A new season is the time when we all start thinking about a change of wardrobe and updating our look and welcoming in a little sunshine. With the arrival of spring most of us are slowly starting to cut back on our layers of sweaters and tentatively starting to swap long boots for pumps or plimsolls. With the changeable weather we experience here most of us don’t push our winter clothes too far to one side though for fear we’re tempting fate. Accessories are an easy way to update your look for the new season without breaking the bank or having to make drastic changes to your wardrobe just yet.
Add some colour
One of the quickest and most effective ways to bring on the new season in your look is to inject some colour. Combat a completely grey, black or brown look by introducing easy accessories that pack a colour punch. This season’s colours and prints include neons, stripes and pretty pastels so take your pick. A summer scarf is a versatile accessory that works with any figure and they’re ideal for adding some colour to cheeks when worn around your neck. Some designers showcased scarves worn as belts and hairbands also this year so get creative as you like. A pretty scarf is a great partner for any style of outfit too so there’s no need to ditch the trousers for a summer dress any time soon.
Put some spring in your step
Let’s face it, big, bulky boots just don’t say spring. They can add a heavy touch to an outfit, particularly when the sun is shining. When you’re in transition mode between seasons or having changeable weather then there are some great choices out there that don’t mean you have to resort to flip flops just yet. Casual plimsoll style lace ups have a funky, versatile style that is comfortable and fresh looking. They’ll work just as easily with a dress as a pair of trousers or jeans. Ballet pumps are also an evergreen hero for spring. They’re available in hundreds of colours and styles and for every pocket so why not go for a pair with an on trend colour or print?
Bag some sunshine
Your heavy, leather black work bag is probably weighing you down physically and emotionally too. When it comes to spring we all want to feel lighter and brighter so why not treat yourself to a colourful bag. Totes have been high on the fashion agenda and they are available in a whole rainbow of colours. They’re a practical, roomy style too so no need to compromise on packing the kitchen sink! Even if you’re stuck wearing your winter colours to the office, adding a colourful bag will be enough to lift your look and your spirits.
Sparkle through spring
The colour palettes that the designers have put in the spotlights this season are not always easy to pull off – particularly those excruciatingly bright neons. Jewellery though offers those of us not quite brave enough to go the whole hog a life line. Adding some spring jewellery to your winter look can give it an immediate lift and a start on the way to your full warm weather look. A chunky pendant in one of spring’s hues is not only a good way to introduce the season to your look but it is also super flattering too. Having a bold central feature to your body draws the eye inward and gives the illusion of a slimmer silhouette. Bracelets are easy to way for anyone and here you could look to introduce some of the trend for all things sixties too with oversized, bead braceletsThis is a guest post
