Our weekly meal plan – 30/08/21

So here we are, our last meal plan for the Summer holiday. We are actually back to work this week and the kids are back at school on different days, but the lazy days are coming to an end and the new routine will be returning. Although I am sad that the holidays are coming to the end, I do like this time of the year as I love Autumn and the build-up to Christmas. There is nothing better than coming home after a long day at work to a comforting meal and snuggles on the sofa.

Our meal plans throughout the holiday have been a little hit and miss, to be fair though most of the time the kids have been trying out the dishes we have cooked and some have been a hit. Although there are no big changes in their diets, the fact they are at least trying out the various dishes is a start for us. We will keep going with the new dishes and hope that over time they keep trying and enjoying new tastes and textures.

This weeks meal plan I am going to make it as easy for us as possible, the return to school is chaos on the first few days and I know we are going to be knackered so the easier it is, the better!

Now, let’s see what we have planned for this week.

Our weekly meal plan – 30/08/21

Monday –

BBQ – Bank holiday BBQ and lazy afternoon in the garden for us.

Tuesday –

Chicken curry – I am not sure what we will have yet, it is likely to be either Rogan or Tikka Massala.

Wednesday –

Tuna pasta bake – This is likely to be a regular on our meal plan going forward, it is one of the few dishes that the kids clear their plates for.

Thursday –

Chilli burritos – This will be using up some of the Chilli Con Carne I made last week, super easy to do and nothing for me to think about.

Friday –

Takeaway – It is our first week back, so we are going to finish it with a takeaway for a change.

Saturday –

Burger and chips – Delclious but easy, I want the easiest option for the weekend so we can relax.

Sunday –

Cottage pies – I make these in small Mason Cash pie dishes and they are the perfect portion size for us.

This week is all about the food we know and love whilst we ease back into the shock of returning to school! Sometimes it is easier to stick with the things you know rather than trying to add a new dish to the mix. I am going to try out a few dishes once we get back into our routine, for now, though we are just taking the easy option. Our weekly meal plan - 300821

In the next few weeks, I also need to go through our cupboards and freezer to use up some items that we have in there, I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, however, we always end up with odds and sods that need using up. Random sauces and packets or the odd tin of kidney beans etc. I think we will have a bit of a clear-out of what we have in the next few weeks and refresh our stocks!
