*Review* Deluxe Aqua Dragons Kit

Another toy that s popped up on our radar in the build up to Christmas is Aqua dragons. You may have seen them on TV lately as the Christmas build up approaches but we have been lucky enough to get our hands on a Deluxe Aqua Dragons Kit to review.

Aqua Dragons are little 2cm long creatures which are hatched from eggs when you put them in a tank with fresh water. Their eggs have an amazing capacity called cryptobiosis which means they can dry out and stay alive only to hatch many years later. Tests have found that eggs kept in air sealed containers for up to 20 years still hatched when they were returned to water.

Children can learn all about these unusual creatures who’s scientific name is Artemia Salinas. From the crustacea family, Aqua Dragons look like tiny three eyed, long-tailed, hairy headed dragons.

The Deluxe Aqua Dragons kit comes with everything you need to get started in hatching your own little dragons.

We started ours on Wednesday and it takes up to 2 days for you to be able to spot the little aqua dragons, ours are alive! They are so tiny though that I’ve not even attempted to take a picture. Aqua Dragons are great for little children too as they require such little care, simply feed once or twice a week and light them up in their tank occasionally and all is good.

Here are our top tips for the Aqua Dragons that we’ve learnt along the way!

  • Only use bottled water
  • Feed sparingly with food once they hatch
  • Oxygenate the tank daily
