Is there such a thing as a perfect parent?

Being a parent is the most amazing thing in the world however it can also be the hardiest thing in the world.

Kayleigh and Ethan have really become little characters over the last few years and are both growing and learning so much everyday. Kayleigh is just so grown up now after her first year at school, a proper little madam!

However ever day I question am I doing enough? Is there something else I could do to make them a little happier?

I’m not sure if it’s just me or whether others feel like it but you have this image in your head of this perfect parent.

You know the one, prepares the most amazing lunch boxes and perfect dinner. Spends times crafting clever little things with the kids and throws the most amazing birthday parties.

That’s on top of remembering reading books & sitting with them when they do their homework 5 days before its due in not 5 minutes before you leave for school (I want to admit that this only happened once normally we are really organised!).

But does that kind of parent really exists?

Who care’s if your attempt at crafting is as far as toilet rolls and felt tip pens or you give them the occasional chocolate spread sandwich for lunch (yes I do, send the food police after me quick!) as long as your little ones are healthy and happy.

Yes we may plod along making it up and learning as we go along but as long as Kayleigh and Ethan are happy, healthy and loved I don’t care.

The SMA advert is right, being a parent is like a job you apply for and get with no experience required.

If someone feels that they need to judge me for my parenting skills feel free, if you think you can throw a better party, you’re most likely to be right.

I honestly couldn’t give two hoots because as parents no one is perfect, no one is right all the time and no one has the right to judge another parent for their choices.

We all love our children and bring them up to the best of our ability and that’s what being a parent is all about.
