How to Design the Perfect Master Bedroom

In many cases, the master bedroom is the room that gets redecorated last or missed out completely. This is because it’s the room no one sees. Your other rooms are used to entertain guests, but your bedroom is just for you. So, it doesn’t feel like it matters as much and decorating gets put off in favour of other things. However, the master bedroom is incredibly important. It’s where you relax at the end of a hard day and the place where you are your most vulnerable and exposed. A well-decorated master bedroom can help you to get a fantastic night’s sleep and start the day right. This means it’s important to take your time and get it right. Here are some great tips to help you.

The Bed

Unless you’ve got a fantastic view, your bed should face the door so it is the first thing that you see, welcoming you into the room. This can instantly relax you and help to prepare you for sleep. The bed is perhaps the most important part of the room, so take your time choosing something you find comfortable and that suits your tastes. If you’ve got a larger room, sleigh beds from Revival Beds make a great option, as they help to fill the room and give it some focus.

Colours

Sticking to light colours on the walls can help you to relax and get a great night’s sleep. Light blues, purples, or greens are thought to be relaxing shades. If you want to add some darker, more romantic tones, do so with furnishings and accessories.

Storage

Storage is a common problem when it comes to designing the perfect master bedroom. You won’t want clutter and mess, but you may not have much storage space beyond a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

To make the most of your space, utilise the area under your bed, mount shelves to walls and in corners, and install hangers on the door and on the inside of your wardrobe. Look online for other clever storage ideas.

Flooring

Comfort is obviously exceptionally important in the bedroom. Do you want carpet or a wooden floor? Thick, fluffy carpets can feel luxurious under your feet first thing in the morning and add a touch of luxury to your room. But, wooden floors can look trendy and modern. If you do opt for wood, add a rug for comfort.

Privacy

Remember, this is the room where you are at your most intimate. You need some privacy. Think about what you can see out of your window, and what others may be able to see from outside before you make any decisions about furniture placement. For added privacy, consider adding a screen and creating a dressing area.

Lighting

Adding lighting options to your bedroom is another great way to improve the atmosphere and create a romantic mood. Consider adding a dimmer to your main lights, as well as some lamps or wall mounted lanterns.

Designing the perfect bedroom can take time. So, experiment with some different colour samples and look at different furniture options before you commit to anything. Whatever you decide, remember to enjoy yourself and to let your personality shine through.
