Wise Words Wednesday with Eileen

Good morning and welcome back to our latest Wise Words Wednedsay feature. Today we have the lovely Eileen from Your Money sorted taking to the hot seat to answer questions on her blogging journey.

Her site is a great place to get started on over hauling your finances and your mindset when it comes to money.

For now though I will hand you over to Eileen:

Tell us a little bit about you & your blog:

I am Eileen Adamson, married to Dougie and mum to 3 teenagers. I have been a PE teacher for over 20 years, but decided that full-time teaching wasn’t for me, after the kids came along.  I have been a part-time teacher and self-employed bookkeeper for 10 years, recently branching out into financial coaching at Your Money Sorted.  I run online courses helping UK women to live a better life, through investigating their money mindset and improving their money skills.

What inspired you to start blogging?

To be honest it took me a wee while to take the plunge.  I was running my financial coaching business, but wanted to be able to help more women and realised that blogging would allow me to do that.  I am not fond of the limelight though, and found it very difficult to publish my first post.  I still don’t really like being so public, but the messages of thanks that I get from followers lets me know that I am doing the right thing.

What has been your highlight of blogging?

Going to the UK Money Bloggers conference in London this year.  It was amazing to meet so many other money bloggers in person and to be inspired by their success.  Blogging can be a bit lonely sometimes, so it’s wonderful to have an online group of people who all offer each other constant support.  Without the group, I think I might have given up by now!

Is there anything you have learnt about blogging which you wish you knew when you started out?

I wish I had known how much there is to learn.  I thought that it would be easy, but it’s not.  I honestly learn new things every single day, and while this is brilliant for my development, it is sometimes a bit draining on my energy!

Bloggers sometimes get a lot of stick however many work really hard and are reaping the rewards, what has been the most rewarding part of blogging for you?

Without a doubt it’s the messages that I get from my followers.  Regular Facebook messages or emails pop into my inbox from people just wanting to say thanks for a tip or suggestion that has worked for them.  That makes my day and makes all my hard work worthwhile.

What would be your 1 tip you would give all new bloggers starting out?

Find support online from other bloggers.  They will understand the ups and downs of blogging in a way that real life friends just don’t.

Who do you find inspiring to read/watch in the blogging world?

Sara from Debt Camel and Andy from Be Clever With Your Cash inspire me, because of their genuine commitment to helping other people to make the most of their money

Lastly – do you have any big plans/dreams for your blog in the next 12 months?

I want to inspire more people to take control of their situation and to live a better life because of doing so. I have loads of ideas for blog posts that will help them to do this.  I just need to get quicker and writing them and getting them published!

Pop along and visit my website, follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest

Thanks for the opportunity to feature on your website.
