The lovely people at Little Dish sent us a few of their ready meals for my little ones to try :
Now I’m not going to lie, I’m not the best cook in the world but i do try to cook fresh for my 2 most nights. Our freezer doesn’t have any frozen chips/chicken nuggets etc so its either fresh or something like pasta for dinner. However this isn’t always possible and i do have the times when i use ready made sauces so when the nice people at Little Dish asked me to review their products i jumped at the chance.
I wasn’t quiet expecting them to send me 6 of their dishes!
- Chicken Risotto
- Pasta Bolognaise
- Chicken and Butternut Squash Pie
- Pasta with Cheese, Pea’s and Broccoli Trees
- Fish Pie
- Cottage Pie
So we set to trying them out!
The first thing i noticed was how fresh the food smelt and tasted, as everyone knows most ready made meals are full of rubbish but these aren’t.
And i will be completely honest they are very yummy and you can taste how fresh they are. The portion size i would say is a generous portion for a toddler and i could easily feed both of mine with one portion.
What i also like is there not your normal ready meal, for example the fish pie is made up of salmon and cod or the chicken pie, instead of being normal chicken pie it has butternut squash in it too. So this gives children a chance to try out things they might not necessarily eat.
And i do have a little confession, i wasn’t very well yesterday so i had just a little lunch and ended up eating the chicken and butternut squash! It was probably one of the nicest ready meals I’ve eaten in a very long time.
One more thing that is very handed for when your working or are out and about and don’t have time to cook is these can be cooked from chilled or frozen so they are great to keep in the fridge or freezer in case of emergencies.
These are a big hit in our house and i would defiantly keep some in the freezer for the kids.
Little Dish are available at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado & Boots and retail for around £2.29, for the quality of the food this is value for money!
