On first appearance I was very impressed with the HP Slate 7. It has a lovely red back with the HP Logo on the back and weighing in at just 370g it is super light and sleek.
This is the first time I’ve used an Android product so I was keen to see how we got on with it. Running on an Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system this tablet comes with a 16GB storage, which for us is just perfect however it can be expanded to 32GB via the micro SD slot. If you wanted to use this for holding pictures, videos or music then you may want to consider the expansion however 16GB is a fair size on its own!
Next up is the cameras.
The HP Slate 7 comes with 2 cameras, front-facing VGA video webcam & rear-facing camera which is 3MP. For what we wanted it for I have found the camera to be ok however there is no touch focus on the camera so it is a little more awkward to get that perfect picture. Having said that I have had worse cameras!
The screen itself is a 1,024×600-resolution display. I know that this is classed as a basic screen resolution however we have been using it for kids apps and games and so far so good. We’ve not had any issues with the screen, it’s not been grainy or anything like that.
We have had the HP Slate 7 for almost a month now and all the reviews I have read haven’t been all that favourable however I have found it a great budget tablet. I have been so impressed in fact that we have brought a second!
