3 Ways to increase your blog traffic

#Collaborative post

Blogging is an amazing hobby and for some, it is a great source of income, but there is so much more to blogging than just creating the content and publishing it. Behind the scenes, bloggers are working on a whole host of things including schedules, SEO, blog designs and much more. Most of this you never hear or see going on in the background, but it probably accounts for at least 30% of the time bloggers work on their sites.

If you have started a blog though and are looking for ways to get your content noticed and increase your traffic, then there are a few options for you to consider and get working through.

Blog traffic for me is a bit of a love-hate relationship as the various traffic sources are always changing the way they work, so it really is a never-ending battle. I would love in future to have an SEO company take a look at the blog and work on some of the SEO aspects of my blog. No matter how many times I change things around or work on different things, I just struggle to get the traffic up, always plateauing out over time.

Anyway, if you are looking to start building traffic to your site, here are some top tips to get you started.

Get Social –

Making sure you have socials for your site is key, even if you are just sharing the latest news and information from your site.

Numbers for your social are not as important as your community interaction, some of the better channels for driving traffic actually have a smaller following but better interaction with their following. If your site is something you are passionate about, you will find you are able to make those networks much easier.

Instagram and Tiktok are popular for reels and short videos, food bloggers tend to find that Pinterest is more popular. Play around with them all to see what works for you.

Take time to reply to comments –

If you get comments on your site or maybe on a social media post, take time out to reply to each of these posts. People have taken time to write a comment to you, so spending a little time replying is a great way to get them to potentially come back.

I am always grateful when someone takes time out to come and comment on my blog, after all, this is just a small space in a very large internet!

Plan your content on the latest trends –

For blogs specifically, if you can plan your content around the latest trends or seasons, it is likely to increase the traffic to your site.

Taking a little time out to plan the content in the build-up to the big seasons, makes your planning a little easier. For things such as Easter and Christmas, if you are planning on sharing some recipes, it is worth working 6-8 weeks ahead of the big day. You want your content to be used over these events, so giving people time to search and view the content in advance, allows them time to discover your content.

Then throughout the year, if there is a trend that takes off, make sure you are jumping on the relevant content for you.

With a site, it is not going to suddenly take off with traffic overnight. It will be a combination of things that will help to keep driving the traffic and as I said at the beginning, you will need to keep adapting the approach depending on the changing algorithms.

My top tip for site traffic is to never give up, some times it can be really disheartening to see a dip in traffic after a change comes in but don’t let it put you off. Keep pushing on with your content and let your passion come out on the page!
