Good morning and welcome back to our Wise Words Wednesday series. Today we are welcoming Jane to the hotseat to share her blogging journey with our readers.
Jane’s blog, Lady Janey is full of inspiring posts to bring customer service (both good and bad) into the spolight. It really is a great place to head for great posts but also some really help and advice on what to do with poor customer service and so many more topics.
I’m going to hand it ovet to Jane to take you through her journey.
Tell us a little bit about you & your blog:
Hi I’m Jane and I’m the author of a new, customer service blog, Lady Janey, the first of its kind in the UK. The aim of the blog is to encourage people to share their experiences both good and bad, with a view to putting excellent customer service firmly back on the top of every agenda. You can find me at www.ladyjaney.co.uk and I’m also on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook
What inspired you to start blogging?
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of writing a blog but it was only when a friend of mine suggested that I should start one about customer service, that I really started to seriously look into it. After being exasperated for years with falling standards of customer service in the UK, I now use the blog to challenge poor customer service whilst at the same time championing and praising excellent customer service.
What has been your highlight of blogging?
All the great opportunities I’ve had. Not only to meet some amazingly talented people, as the blogging world is full of them, but also to take part in some fabulous blogger events. One of my aims is to become a freelance writer and since I started the blog, I’ve been lucky enough to be able to write for WhichUK which I was really excited about.
Is there anything you have learnt about blogging, which you wish you knew when you started out?
I’m still learning even now. There’s just so much to blogging than I would ever have thought and sometimes it can be really overwhelming. In hindsight, I would have liked more time to get my head around all the technical aspects of creating a blog as it was an awful lot to take in at once.
Bloggers sometimes get a lot of stick however many work really hard and are reaping the rewards, what has been the most rewarding part of blogging for you?
When people tell me they like my posts. I’ve also always really enjoyed writing poems and have now included quite a few on the blog. Feedback from other people is really important to me so when the blog is praised, I’m a very happy Lady Janey.
What would be your 1 tip you would give all new bloggers starting out?
Don’t try to run before you can walk. It takes time and you have to be patient. This is not something I excel at unfortunately.
Who do you find inspiring to read/watch in the blogging world?
Kelly Eroglu who writes Reduced Grub as she was my blogging inspiration. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now without her initial support. I also love Debbie Stansil of Random Musings as she writes so honestly and openly that you feel you are sat in front of her chatting over a cup of tea.
Lastly – do you have any big plans/dreams for your blog in the next 12 months?
I’d really like to double my social media following and establish Lady Janey as a respected customer service critic. I hope to be able to build relationships with companies through LinkedIn and Twitter so that I can build the consultancy side of my blog.
Thank you Jane for taking part! Don’t forget to go check out her blog too 🙂
