Picnic in the Park & my time to give something back!

The end of June see’s an annual event where I live called Picnic in the Park.

It’s a chance for all the local organisations for families & children to come together and get the chance to promote themselves to the public as well as earning a little bit of money for their organisation.

So I’m going to be attending with my Made For Mum’s Neighbourhood, We will also be running a little craft time to, celebrating the Jubilee & Olympics, making Union Jack flags. So if you’re at the event make sure you pop by and see me, I’ll be wearing my Made For Mum’s t-shirt! After talking with the lovely Tara at Made For Mum’s we agreed that any money we raised on the day would be given to a local charity, of my choice.

This is where it got tough, there are 2 charities that are close to my heart for different reasons in Luton that I had to decide between.

There is the NICU unit at the local hospital, this is the same one that saved my brothers life when he was born at 29 weeks gestation almost 21 years ago! Then there is Keech Hospice.

I simply chose Keech Hospice as this is purely funded on fundraising and donations, next time it will be the NICU at the L & D hospital so both can benefit from some extra fundraising.

I can’t explain why I am drawn to the hospice as I’ve never even set foot in the place, however something about the work they do in both the adult & children’s wings fill’s me with this great sense of humanity. The staff there are able to help families in their darkest hours with such a caring touch, making it a little bit more comfortable for those suffering.

So my plan is to have a raffle with a gorgeous hamper (or 2) of goodies to give away plus a tombola full of little goodies to instantly win, if you can donate anything to this please get in touch as all the help I can get is much appreciated. If I can make just small percentage of a difference compared to what they do for families then I will be happy.
