Dear Kayleigh,
Happy 15th birthday!
It seems as though it was just yesterday that I wrote your first letter on your 5th birthday and here we are now, writing a letter to you on your 15th birthday. If time could slow down a little, that would be great!
Life has passed by so fast lately, that it is hard to remember what we have been up to. Sometimes, it feels as though we are on rinse and repeat throughout the year with work, school and everything else in between. We have tried to make more time for family movie nights or BBQs in the garden to spend quality time together.
You have entered into your GCSE years at school and after a little bit of deliberation decided to take art and creative media as a GCSE choice. You don’t really know what you want to do when you leave school and that is ok, lots of people don’t. So we told you to pick subjects that you love and enjoy. After all, you do so much better at a topic when you enjoy it and the pressure feels less.
Every day you take things in your stride, there is no fuss made about school or helping around the house and you love to be able to get in the kitchen and bake if I am working through some recipes. Food-wise, you are much less fussy than when you were a toddler, so if you wouldn’t mind sharing that with your brother, that would be appreciated!
All we ask is that you continue to stay focused on the things that matter to you, stay kind and work hard. Life will continue to throw you curve balls to throw a spanner in the works but as long as you stay focused on yourself and those you love around you, life will be ok.
Love you lots
Mummy & Daddy xx
