Finding the right work to life balance

When I started this blog, many moons ago, it was all about me trying to find the right work to life balance, hence the name Mummy Vs Work.

Now Kayleigh and Ethan are 11 and 10, you would have thought I would have it nailed down by now, but I don’t! In fact, I would even go as far as to say that since lockdown came into play it has got worse. Working from home during a tough time whilst trying to homeschool was hard going, I don’t think we got the balance right however we got to the end of it.

Finding the right work to life balance

I have found as time has gone on, it’s not necessarily my “9 to 5” job that takes up the time and makes things difficult to balance around it. I’m on such a mission to create a different life for us as the years roll on that I am pushing hard with my blogs and streaming, however, I also want to create time for myself to take time out and work out. This has resulted in my days starting at 5.30 most mornings and finishing around 10 pm.

It may seem like a long day, but it works for us. It allows me to get everything done but still balances out family life at the same time. I know it’s not going to be this way all the time either, as time goes on, things will drop off and change. For me, I am taking all the chances whilst they are on offer for us as a family, making it our best life it can be whilst still being around to enjoy it all. There is the option to go for a different job that pays more money and give up some of the additional things I already do, this, however, does not offer the flexibility I currently have. I have been there in the past and it’s not what works best for us as a family.

Over time I will work on getting a better work/life balance, however, other than my 9 to 5 job I have complete flexibility on how I work outside that. This allows us to balance everything out in a way that works for us without any dictation from others.
