As a mum, my wardrobe comes last in the list of priorities. However as long as you have some key items in your wardrobe you will be ready for any weather!
The summer is on its way (sort off!), so away go the jumpers and out come the skirts, dresses and pretty summer tops.
For me there are a few key pieces that I always go back to each year and just update other items around them when I can depending on money and the trends.
Firstly is a good skirt, like this Joe Browns denim skirt.
It can be worn casually for BBQ in the garden or with a pretty top and sandles for a a family meal out. Denim is always going to be in fashion too so if you invest in a good piece you will find it will last for years!
Vest tops are always a firm favourite with me too. As they are so versatile you can dress then up and down depending on what you are up to plus they are super comfortable. If you go for the loose fitting tops too you are able to cover those mum bumps that I don’t like to have out on display.
The great thing about vest tops is they come in lots of designs and colours. There is no need for you to be sticking to bland colours, why not make a statement and go for a bright summer colours like this gorgeous top.
Lastly is a good maxi dress.
Now I never wore a maxi dress until we went on holiday a few years ago and then after that I was hooked! They are just so comfortable you can wear them anywhere and again depending on where you are going you can dress it up or down with your shoes and accessories.
Once you have your summer staples in place, each year I just top up the extra items I need in the sales or on offer. This way my summer wardrobe is budget friendly and can stay up to date with the latest fashion trends.
What is your staple summer wardrobe items?
