It’s been a long time since I was a new mum, my youngest baby is 8 next month! However, the lovely Fiona at Savvy in Somerset is expecting her little baby any day now (how exciting!) and we had been discussing that number of products on the baby market.
I’ve spent the last month or so looking around at the best baby products on the market, which are perfect gifts for mums to be or maybe as a little treat to yourself if you are expecting a little one!
Gifts for mums –
Every mum deserves a little treat now and then, if you are buying for a mum-to-be or a new mum why not consider these lovely gifts.

Formulated to sooth and moisturise the skin throughout your pregnancy, this will help you ensure your skin is hydrated and helps relieve the things such as tightness, dryness and irritation.
Gifts for babies
Now this is one product I wish was around when my two were little. Any parent will tell you there is a time where you will do anything to get your little ones to nap, including sitting rocking them in their pushchair, even whilst at home! This clever gadget is here to save your arms and your sanity.
It attaches to any pram with the adjustable bracket and quietly rocks them to sleep in a gentle movement. This really is one of my favourite must have items!
Twiddle Ons Foot Discovery Rattle Toys
These are a clever little design from the popular Sock Ons brand to help encourage babies to discover their toes whilst helping keep their socks in place! With interactive textures and colours, this help stimulates your little ones and keep them entertained!
Babies and children’s skin are known to be sensitive, so taking care of it is all parents priority. Childs farm have spent a lot of time ensuring their ranges are gentle on delicate skin and make the perfect gift, with ranges including bathing, hair care and even some beautiful gift sets ready to go.
You can view the entire range here, for now Fiona and her little baby are in for a real treat with the gifts we received!
If you are looking for something a little different for a gift, how about these Cable & Cotton lights? This beautiful LED lights are covered in a cotton thread ball, in so many colour choices you really are spoilt. The come with a USB cable so you can either plug them straight into a USB plug socket or one of your existing USB plugs, or purchase one from Cable & Cotton. Fiona picked a beautiful colour set and I know Kayleigh is eyeing these up too for her new bedroom, so I can’t wait to see the colour combination she goes for.
Pictures really do not do these lights justice and the reviews speak highly for them too, they are stunning.
The Original Cuddledry® Handsfree Baby Bath Towel
These towels came out a little after I had Kayleigh and Ethan however at the time I thought they were an amazing idea. Designed by two mums to help keep your hands free whilst bathing your baby, the towels attach around your next and allow you to carry your little one around whilst drying them up (without the towel dragging along!). Super soft and cleverly designed it makes the perfect gift for any parent.
Even better than that is the fact that the Cuddledry range has continued to grow over the years and they now have an amazing selection of children’s gifts too. Make sure you check them out.
Everybody knows baby shoes are cute and Dottyfish not only have some amazingly cute shoes, but they also develop their shoes with little feet in mind. They have spent a lot of time making sure the shoes are lightweight, flexible and non-slop, pretty much the next best thing compared to bare feet.
With such beautiful shoes, the only real problem I see with them is picking which pair to order!
Baby Sensory’s ‘Say Hello’ toy range
Baby Sensory have a beautiful range called “Say hello” which was designed with over 25 years of research in mind.
Their toys have lots of peek-a-boo flaps, crinkly fabrics, baby-safe mirrors and lots of other amazing features which not only capture your little one’s imagination but also encourages and simulates their curiosity. The items that Fiona has received will encourage her littles one’s tummy time but also look to give them a variety of activity whilst they interact with the toys. I loved these and was extremely impressed with the range.
Gift ideas for a baby hamper
If you are looking for some smaller gifts for your mum-to-be then why not consider making a baby hamper of different gifts. There are lots of products on the market which you can add and these are my favourite items.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are going to be facing the joys of teething at some point if you have just had or are about to have a little one. It’s not fun nor is it easy however don’t fear as there as some great products on the market to help make your life a little easier.
Brickiepegs have been part of most families lives since 1925 and are handcrafted in a purpose-built bakery in Scotland. Although they are not designed to be consumed like a biscuit they are made with all-natural ingredients should any be consumed. Usable from the age of around 6 months they help the cutting of teeth seem a little less stressful!
You will find you will get through a lot of baby wipes after your little one is born however some can be heavily perfumed and cause skin irritations.
If you are looking for something that is a little more delicate, then Waterwipes will be something you should consider. Approved by Allergy UK these wipes are safe for delicate skin and are made using just water and a drop of grapefruit seed extract. Perfect for looking after little one’s skins whilst ensuring they are clean!
Sukin is a popular Australian skincare brand which has started to expand into a new baby range. Their products are made using botanicals such as Aloe Vera and Chamomile and have a soft fragrance that is not too overpowering.
If you are looking for a little treat for baby skin, this would make a great addition to your hamper.
This cup is a unique slanted open cup to help little ones during weaning. It has been scientifically designed with a slant to teach little ones to drink from a rim, not a spout or teated bottle. The shape of it teaches little ones how to drink from an open cup but also how to ensure it is put down correctly.
I loved these and the fact they come in a huge range of colours without breaking the bank too!
This is just some of the amazing products that are out there for new parents, however I hope if you are looking for items this has given you a little inspiration!
