We are back again with another meal plan and how quick is this month flying by?
I think this whole household have managed to enjoy the holidays, with no plans in place we have seen friends, done some jobs around the house, had some lazy days and made the most of the alarm being off. With just a couple of weeks left though of the summer holidays, we will make the most of the days at home. Meal planning has been going to plan pretty much, on the days we might not have had what we had planned, we just switch it with something else in the week.
Sometimes meal planning feels a little repetitive, although it is different every week, I still struggle to come up with a selection of meal ideas different from the previous week. I don’t think anyone in the household really notices though! I have been trying to reduce our shopping also, we are making sure that we are using up what we have in the cupboard to save on food wastage and only topping up what we need and fresh produce.
Anyway, let’s get back to the meal plan for this week:
Our weekly meal plan – 16/08/21
Monday –
Tuna pasta bake – We had this a few weeks ago and it was a winner all around in our house.
Tuesday –
Chicken curry – I will probably make a Rogan using this recipe, however, we will see what we fancy nearer the time. It may be that we decide to have chicken tikka instead.
Wednesday –
Tacos – It seems like we last had tacos a long time ago, like both the crispy taco shells and soft boats. So we will pick by seeing what is on offer!
Thursday –
Takeaway – It’s my birthday! The rules state the birthday person gets to pick a takeaway, I’m not sure what we will have yet, I will see what I am in the mood for nearer the time.
Friday –
Burgers and chips – Easy but a winner! The kids tend to have chicken burgers and we have beef burgers but we will be using up whatever we have in the freezer first.
Saturday –
Tandoori salmon and rice – This recipe from Tesco is delicious but so simple to do. I am certain though the kids would probably rather eat fish fingers, we shall see!
Sunday –
Pick and mix – With the weather warming up again, we are going for a simple pick and mix tea with fresh bread, meats and pickles.
There is nothing new and nothing exciting on the menu this week, we are just going for the good old classic choices to keep everyone happy. Sometimes the simple weeks are the best weeks.
Over the next couple of weeks, I think I am going to get the kids in the kitchen cooking with me a little more. I’m hoping when they start to understand the effort that goes into cooking for everyone, that they may appreciate the meal a little more and be a little slower in deciding they don’t like it after just 1 bite! It has got better over the last few weeks, they are at least giving the new dishes a good taste and to be fair, there has been some that they have actually enjoyed, much to their surprise.
