It has been a busy week since we wrote our last meal plan and I can’t believe it is fast approaching the end of November already.
The last few weeks have just flown by and as much as I say I plan to get myself organised, it is just not happening. Then you throw into the mix the fact that Christmas is just around the corner and it is not looking very promising I will do it anytime soon either!
All I do know is that I am very much looking forward to the Christmas break and taking some time out as a family to do nothing other than eat delicious food, watch some films and chill out.
As we head towards that time, I am going to do the best I can to keep our costs down as like everyone else, I am finding the increasing costs a worry when it comes to our food bill. I know it is not unique to us but I feel every week our shopping bill gets squeezed that little bit more as something else has gone up in price, pushing our money even further. I would really like to have some spare pennies this Christmas to treat us to some delicious meals and treats over the festive season.
Our weekly meal plan – 21/11/22
Monday –
Freezer food – Keeping it nice and simple on the first day back after the weekend.
Tuesday –
Chicken curry – Nice and easy after work meal, served with naan breads and rice. I am undecided if I will cook the sauce from scratch or use a jar, I will see how I feel after work.
Wednesday –
Tuna pasta bake – Same as last week but always a winner.
Thursday –
Korean pork and rice – This dish is a Slimming World dish, it is so simple yet so tasty with minimal ingredients or effort required!
Friday –
Slow cooker beef goulash – A new recipe for us to try out. I am unsure how this will go but I have the day off so I am planning to make the most of the day and get some food in the slow cooker to have ready at the end of the day.
Saturday –
Chilli con Carne on jacket potatoes – I am using up some of the chilli in the freezer and and adding it to jacket potatoes. The perfect topping for a jacket in this weather!
Sunday –
Roast – It is time for our weekly winter roast with the trimmings! You can’t beat a roast with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes when it is chilly and wet outside.
There is one new dish this week but mostly it is family favourite meals to get through the week and get to the next weekend. I keep saying this, but I really do need to look at meals to cook in the slow cooker more. Not only for ease, but I personally find that meals cooked in the slow cooker just seem to go that little bit further, which is always a bonus.
I am hoping to get back baking soon too, I love the winter season where it is acceptable to have rice pudding and chocolate buttons or a big slice of apple pie and custard. This is why it is my favourite season!
