Welcome back to yet another weekly meal plan and almost our last one of September! I have no idea where the last month has gone, it is almost like we blinked and the month disappeared.
We are back into the routine of school and work and the summer holidays are a distant memory, in fact, we are moving on to the October half term and Christmas break in my head already. That is the funny thing about working in a school, you are always usually working a term ahead!
Meal plans have been good to have now we are back in school, I like being able to get up in the morning and not have to worry about meal times later in the day. Lunches are still a bit boring, but I am doing a little bit of research into ideas and plans for these. They are just so repetitive, but that is my own fault.
I’m hoping now that Ethan is in high school and the meal options are there for him to see and pick as he fancies them, he may start to open up the options for dinner times a little more. He has always been the fussiest of the household, but I am hoping as the kids around him try different meals, he will do the same!
Anyway, let’s get back to this week’s meal plan.
Monday –
Chilli burritos – I love Chilli con Carne, these are pretty much the same, just added into a wrap with lots of delicious sauces and cheese!
Tuesday –
Slow cooker lamb and sweet potato tagine – This is a new dish however it sounds delicious and I can’t wait to give it a go. It will go on in the morning before we head to work and should smell amazing when we get home.
Wednesday –
Peri-peri chicken wraps and chips – I grill our chicken in the George Foreman grill and it always comes out delicious. I am looking forward to this tonight.
Thursday –
Sausage, egg, and chips – Really easy and quick to make. Sometimes it is the simple things that are tasty.
Friday –
Pizza – Cooked in the oven but still an easy meal after a busy week.
Saturday –
Chicken souvlaki – This is another new recipe but I thought we could use our grill rather than the BBQ to make this, hopefully, it will be popular with the kids!
Sunday –
Roast or stew – I will see what is on offer whilst I do our shopping and go from there.
I am looking forward to trying out a few new dishes this week. Hopefully, they will become meals that everyone will eat and it will give me a bit of a chance when it comes to future meal plans. With time short during the week, I want to make sure those meals are quick to make. Whether they have been cooked in the slow cooker or are quick on the grill when I get in, I want to change the way we have dinner during the week.
It seemed to be a theme that after a busy day at work, we would reach for the takeaway as neither of us could be bothered to cook, however, if I can get meals ready in 15 minutes with minimal effort, they are going to be winners.
