Here we are back with another weekly meal plan after a break again, I find that I am getting less and less organised when it comes to food and that is becoming an expensive mistake!
This week, I have tried to get organised and get in food that is not only good for you but will give us something a little different to eat as it has become a bit repetitive the options that we have on the meal plan. Mostly this is down to laziness and not wanting to pick battles after a busy day at work, but I am trying to get a bit more creative with our choices this week. Let the jury make their decisions later in the week.
I think in the coming weeks I will be putting in a Musclefood order or popping to Costco to pick up our meat as I am finding the quality that is coming from the supermarkets to be getting worse but also receiving less food for a higher cost! We do need to start letting go of food costs though as most of the time we discuss how much food used to cost, I’m starting to feel old!
The meal plan this week has a couple of new dishes on there, along with some I haven’t made in a while. Then the rest of the meals are ones that we have had in the past, hopefully, to balance out the week.
Our weekly meal plan – 03/07/23
Monday –
Takeaway – Kayleigh has been selected to attend a Sports Awards Evening at school, so we will grab something after, regardless of the result.
Tuesday –
Creamy pasta – This dish has courgettes and spinach in a creamy sauce. It sounds a bit strange just trust me, it is delicious, even if the kids won’t eat it!
Wednesday –
Gunpowder pork – We have not tried this dish before; it is a Slimming World recipe that is to replicate a takeaway. I am looking forward to seeing how tasty this is.
Thursday –
Freezer food – That weekly day to use up the food in the freezer! There are some frozen batch meals in there or pizza depending on what people want.
Friday –
Chicken risotto – Another Slimming World, packed full of Mediterranean veggies and healthy food!
Saturday –
Tacos – Time for a taco weekend, maybe with some nachos and a movie depending on what we fancy.
Sunday –
Tuna pasta bake – Usually more of a midweek dish but I am hopeful that this will allow me to have a lazy Sunday.
As you can see, it is a bit of a mixture of meals on the menu this week. I am not expecting them to all be big hits but I am hopeful that at least 1 may make it onto the weekly rotation. With a little determination, that would allow us to have a few new dishes added in the coming weeks!
I am trying to get back in the kitchen baking a bit more to save on the food budget too, you can find our recipes over on our food blog – The Family Cookbook, one of my favourite things to do at the moment is fudge in the slow cooker. If this is something that takes your fancy, check out this biscoff fudge recipe. If you like this, don’t forget to check out the cheesecake recipe.
