Welcome back for another meal plan, especially after we skipped last week!
The last month has flown by; sometimes I have just found time has run away, and I am always rushing to get things done. That was the case last week when time just got away from me and I never did get around to typing up our meal plan.
This week we are back sharing our meal plan and hoping that I may actually stick to it. With the rising costs of food, we are doing a bit of a mixture of home-cooked meals and convenience food, simply due to the increasing costs of food. I can’t believe how much a weekly shop has gone up and it is now normal to have a small shop for a family of 4 costing around £80 a week. I have found myself rotating which cleaning products I need each week to keep the costs down.
For our meals this week I have gone for a combination of bits we have in the freezer already, food that we love and some cheat meals from the freezer section in the supermarket!
So, let’s see what we have cooking this week.
Our weekly meal plan – 03/10/22
Monday –
Eating out – I have an appointment at 6 tonight in town so we are going to grab something to eat whilst we are out.
Tuesday –
Kung Po chicken noodles – This was a dish recommended by a lady I work with, so I am looking forward to giving this a go. I plan to pack it out with veggies too which will give us some meals for lunch the next day too.
Wednesday –
Toasties – This is at the request of Daddy Vs Work, he just wants quick comfort food for dinner tonight.
Thursday –
Spaghetti bolognese – I have a portion in the freezer ready to go with this so it will be a quick dinner all around.
Friday –
Pizza and garlic bread – This is from the freezer, I am not cooking this one I am afraid!
Saturday –
Tuna pasta bake – Kids’ favourite and easy to make.
Sunday –
Tacos – Something a little different to finish the weekend. This is always a hit so planning on making it for people to pick and choose what they would like with their dinner. I pop it out on the table and everyone can help themselves.
I think in the coming weeks I am going to look to make 2 of our meals cheap budget-friendly meals to help with the cost increase. This doesn’t mean that they will be bland, boring and unhealthy but it does mean that they may be meat free or a little more creative than how I have been cooking lately. It is all about finding the right balance in the meal plan that does not blow the budget on food in one week! If you have been finding the cost increases pinching on your food budget, I’d love to hear what you have been cooking to keep the costs down.
Whilst we are out and about I am also trying to pick up bargains or yellow sticker deals when I see them and pop them in the freezer. I only ever buy things I know we will eat though, it is not a good deal if I am only going to throw it away going forward!
