Recipe for Coffee with Almond Milk

For every coffeeholic, no other beverage beats coffee in aroma, flavor, and texture. Besides, the opportunities are endless in the coffee world. There’s always a type of coffee to meet every taste and every situation.

For an instance, when you need to beat the heat waves during a lunch break in summer, a chocolatey iced mocha or an iced caramel macchiato will do the trick. Similarly, sipping away at a mug of steamy cappuccino, flat whites, or americano in winter is an easy way to feel cozy.

However, most of us coffee drinkers who make our own coffees at home have become more creative: From making coffee cocktails to changing some of the ingredients of a cappuccino recipe

For some of us, this means replacing dairy milk with a healthier choice. Speaking of which, almond milk doesn’t contain much fat and calories. And in today’s post, I’ll reveal, step-by-step, how you can prepare both cold and hot coffee with almond milk.

The ingredients first.

Ingredients

  • Espresso: Your espresso should be well-ground for the job.
  • Ice cube: The most important link to a perfectly brewed almond ice coffee.
  • Frothed almond milk: You’ll need either a milk frother, a French Press, or a Whisk to get this done.

But before we get neck-deep into the brewing process, below is how to froth your almond milk for hot coffee.

4 Ways to Froth Almond Milk

  • Heat the Milk: Position your milk in a saucepan and heat to about 150°F. You can use a food thermometer for this. Ensure you heat to scalding.
  • With a Milk Frother: This is the easiest method. Place your milk in a container. Hold it at an angle and turn on the frother. Move the frother until bubbles form.
  • With a French Press: After adding your scaling milk to the French Press, whip it about 25 times until bubbles form. Then pour it into a pitcher.
  • Whisk Method: Whisk your scalding milk in a bowl, vigorously, until bubbles form. Then pour it into a pitcher.

Note: Ensure you break down large bubbles after frothing your milk to avoid an uneven taste and texture distribution.

Making Iced/Hot Coffee With Almond Milk

Almond Milk tastes better in iced coffee. To make it, you need;

  • 2 shots or ¼ cup of espresso.
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons of vanilla syrup, or purple Marple syrup.
  • Ice and ¼ almond milk.

Now, follow these steps:

Step 1: Measure 2 shots or ¼ cup of espresso.

Step 2: Froth ¼ cup almond milk as previously discussed.

Step 3: Add about 3 teaspoons of your preferred syrup into your espresso.

Step 4: Pour the mixture over ice.

Step 5: Add milk and serve.

On the other hand, you will get a nutty flavour from your hot almond milk coffee. The process is almost the same as iced coffee. However, there’s an exclusion of ice and the addition of more almond milk. Let’s see;

Step 1: Make two shots of espresso

Step 2: Froth a half cup of almond milk.

Step 3: Measure two teaspoons of syrup or sweetener into the espresso.

Step 4: Pour the espresso into the frothed milk.

Enjoy it hot.

Note: Almond milk is almost bitter-flavoured. This is why a sweetener or syrup is recommended to add some deliciousness to your brew.

Don’t forget the key to a good coffee is ensuring your equipment is working correctly and is clean, it is suggested that you do a regular routine of using a coffee machine descaler to ensure it is in the best working order.

In Conclusion

Almond milk is non-dairy milk and it doesn’t froth like other types of milk. Plus, you may have to deal with a strong nutty taste in your coffee when you use almond milk. Yet, the flavour of almond milk can add a nice nuance to your iced coffee when whipped perfectly. You can also visit our homepage for more food updates.
