You can really get to enjoy yourself more as the weather warms up for a healthy spring. By making some small changes to your lifestyle and attitude, you will be well on your way to fun.
Address Your Medical Issues Head-On
Of course, like the colder months, spring comes with health issues even as it gets warmer. For example, there is a cold and flu season associated with springtime. And the threat of COVID isn’t completely gone. So make sure you get any vaccination and booster jabs to avoid feeling terrible. But you should also consider allergy testing if you experience common issues like hay fever or a harder time breathing during spring, which could help catch more serious issues.
Get Some More Exercise
With the longer days and beautiful early sunrises, spring is a great time to exercise more or get into it if you haven’t really done it before. The extra sunlight can mean you are more motivated, especially if you experience the seasonal affective disorder. So you can emerge from your winter blues fog, which exercise will help get rid of anyway. The intensity of your exercise doesn’t even need to be that high. Aim for around 30 minutes per day of an elevated heart rate.
Take a Walk for a Healthy Spring
Obviously, it begins to get a bit warmer in spring. And this means it’s easier to spend more time outside. Which feels like a privilege these days as we still remember the lockdown. Yet getting outside into some greenery isn’t just about feeling free. There are proven medical benefits of taking a walk in nature. First, of course, it’s a little extra exercise. But it also helps with anxiety and serotonin production and, in some cases, is a proven remedy for some signs of depression.
Use the Fresh Ingredients
With each season comes a flood of new ingredients to use in seasonal cooking. Seasonal cooking is important to your health because fruits and vegetables, and even some meats, have a much higher nutrient count than food imported from other countries. For example, eating foods like asparagus, broad beans, and strawberries is better in spring since they are sourced from your local area or within your borders. Which also helps with your national economy.
Clean Your Home to Clear Your Mind
Finally, there is the annual spring clean. Spring cleaning is something that most people do. One of the main reasons is that we manage to buy and store a ton of things we don’t really need over the course of one year. So you might need space, probably for more things! However, knowing that you have cleared your cupboards and wardrobe also helps clear your mind when you know the stuff has gone. Of course, you can donate useful items to charity rather than binning them.
Summary
A healthy spring is an enjoyable spring. And you can make some small changes to ensure this. Defend against colds and allergies, get outside into fresh nature, and do the spring clean.
