Christmas and birthdays aren’t the only times we should spoil our kids. Children love dressing up and looking cool, so why not add a few designer pieces to their wardrobe, to make them feel spoiled and adored! The Fashion Weeks of last month may have garnered most of the fashion press attention, but the Global Kids Fashion event is big news too. Check out what can be expected from this sartorial celebration, and choose designer childrenswear pieces for your little ones.
Global Kids Fashion event is the finale to the much-hyped Fashion Weeks, which set the trends for women’s and menswear for the seasons to come. The two day event showcases the best of well-known brands and up-and-coming designers alike. Designers like Chloe, Little Marc Jacobs, Junior Gaulthier and Juicy Couture are among the huge names on board for the show, which will run at the Freemason’s Hall in Covent Garden from 18th-20th March. So, what can we expect from designers, and what trends should we be kitting our own kids out in?
Ethnic prints and patterns are set to be big this year, with the spring and summer months being the key time to show off these looks. Bright colours and bead and sequin detailing look best when worn on hot, sunny days as the vivid colours really look their best. The ethnic trend is a great one for kids, as rich patterns disguise grubby marks and children will love to pick out a wardrobe with a rainbow colour palette. Sequins and beads can be delicate, so keep this look for your daughter’s party dresses. Footwear which plays into the ethnic trend, however, is more practical. Strappy leather sandals will be a hit in adults- and childrenswear this spring/summer. Brown leather sandals are a fab choice, as they are on-trend and hardwearing too.
Celebs have been wearing monochrome pieces on the red carpet of late, and the look has really taken off. Kids may see the black and white trend as a boring one, but this needn’t be the case. Rather than choosing separates in either black or white go for pieces which combine the two in fun patterns and designs. A black and white chequer-board print looks bold and boisterous, and monochrome stripes are a timeless look. The monochrome trend is not season-specific, so your kid’s designer wear will transcend seasons and can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Another trend your son or daughter will love, neon is big in the fashion world right now. Many mums will shy away from the daring neon trend, so why not show off your style credentials by picking on-trend brights for your kids? Mix and match colours for your kids wardrobe – bright orange jeans, a sunny yellow t-shirt and bright green trainers look fab and fun. The Vans kids’ range is a great place to to start your search.
These trends and more will be showcased at the Global Kids Fashion event, so be ahead of the game and spoil your kids rotten with the best of this year’s trends.
