Saving money on your food bills

Saving money on your food bills

So earlier in the year, I had mentioned ways in which we are going to start to look at cutting costs and saving money on a monthly basis and in this post I am going to look at food.

Now currently I would count ourselves fortunate that we can afford to do a weekly shop without really watching what we order however that could change at any point in the future plus we really need to start looking after our pennies a little better, we’re not getting any younger!

When it comes to saving money with food there are lots of ways to do this such as buying in bulk or taking advantage of offers. We’re also teaching ourselves to cook… together!

This week we made a home-made lamb rogan josh which used the leftover lamb from the weekend and not only was it delicious but it was easy to make so in the next week or so I will be sharing that recipe with you.

If we are ordering meat we have started to order from MuscleFood as I mentioned in a previous post and they have an offer for my readers.

They have put together an 82 piece family favourites for £60 including postage!

You will get :

  • 2 x 2.5kg Premium Breast Fillets
  • 1.2kg Whole Fresh British Chicken
  • 2 x 400g Extra Lean British Beef Mince
  • 2 x 400g Turkey Thigh Mince
  • 12 x 76g Cumberland Sausages
  • 8 x 4oz British Steak Burgers

Plus these too…

  • 14 x 25g Unsmoked Bacon Rashers

An example of the way the food is packaged from MuscleFood

I wouldn’t share this offer if I didn’t genuinely believe it was value for money and we have now had 4 orders from MuscleFood (including 1 of these bundles) and every time the food has been perfect.

When our bundles arrive I freeze the chicken breast fillets into smaller portions and the rest of the items come vacuum packed ready to be used or placed in the freezer. On average I can stretch one of these bundles out between us for about 6-8 weeks so it really does go far.

If you are interested in buying A bundle or finding out more about the individual items you can head to MuscleFood through this link, however, the offers and bundles on their site change regularly so make sure you check back often if you don’t find something that takes your fancy.
