Welcome to our latest Wise Words Wednesday post and we are welcoming Sarah to the blog to share her blogging journey.
I think you will find once you’ve read her post, how life changing blogging can be.
I’m going to hand the post over to her now so she can share the journey with you.
Tell us a little bit about you & your blog:
Hi I’m Sarah and I blog over at Life in a Break Down and UK Bloggers. On LIABD I cover a whole host of topics from lifestyle to fashion and beauty, home and of course the odd post about my pets. I also try and include posts on my health issues, to try and get the word out about them a bit more and hopefully help people feel not so alone.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I had a couple of blogs that I frequented often, which I had found via comping and I was at a hard point in my life. I had not long been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and had given up on life. Ash basically told be to buck up or he was out (he was working long hours and I was just a depressed mess that wouldn’t even make a cup of tea, it needed saying). I don’t think either of us could have guessed how my well how about I start a blog to remember the good in each day would change both of our lives.
What has been your highlight of blogging?
This is such a hard question, there is so many! I’ve made some amazing friends, it has given me a purpose, I am off ESA something I thought would never happen and earning my own way in life. It has given me back a sense of self almost.
Is there anything you have learnt about blogging which you wish you knew when you started out?
I honestly don’t know, there’s so much technical knowledge that I could say I wish I knew, I could wish I didn’t go with some of the awful designs. However, that was all part of my journey and helped me get better in some ways and I wouldn’t want to change that.
Bloggers sometimes get a lot of stick however many work really hard and are reaping the rewards, what has been the most rewarding part of blogging for you?
As I said before, finding myself again. Learning a way to earn my own way, yes it’s hard work but if I can’t get out of bed one day that’s OK, if I want to work in my PJs that’s OK. It’s given me so much more than I could ever have dreamed of.
What would be your 1 tip you would give all new bloggers starting out?
Be yourself, blog about what you want. I spent a while trying fit myself in a box, but you don’t need to do that – go out there and make your own box, that fits you!
Who do you find inspiring to read/watch in the blogging world?
There is so many but I have to mention they wonderful Tanya of Secret Plus Sized Goddess and Georgina of She Might Be Loved, I find it hard to accept my body and both of them are wonderfully body confident and in that way I really look up to them and hope one day to accept myself as they do.
Lastly – do you have any big plans/dreams for your blog in the next 12 months?
I would love for it to keep on growing. It keep surprising me as it has over the past 7 years.
