It’s coming up to the time of the year when we are starting to look and plan the kid’s birthday parties.
The one thing I have discovered since having Kayleigh and Ethan is the fact that children’s birthday’s can be expensive! From the start the costs soon start to add up and if you are not careful, costs can spiral out of control.
So, can you really throw a party on a budget? Here are my top tips for saving money if you are planning a party.
- Shop around for your venue – whether you plan to host the party yourself or are looking to book a host such as a trampoline park or soft play, look around. Lots of the ones close to me are regularly running offers where you can get 10% off parties booked for example. It soon adds up depending on the number of children coming.
- Make your own invites – Don’t pay for expensive invites, have a go at making your own. Once you have these made and printed head over to somewhere like bestbuyenvelopes.uk to get the perfect envelopes to finish the look. They have some fun foil ones which kids will love!
- Create your own party bags – there are lots of great offers around for pre-made party bags however did you know you can create your own for a fraction of the price? Look around at places like Amazon for example as they do a great selection of party bag fillers like these. Other shops like Poundland are a great place to pick up bargains too. You could even add homemade cookies like our Smarties cookies to them too!
- Bake the cake yourself – Ok this one may seem a bit scary, however baking birthday cakes are not that hard and now days the internet has some amazing step by step tutorials to make any cake you want. So, look around and brave it, it won’t be as scary as you think.
- Limit your numbers – It’s ok not to invite every child in the class. With lots of classes having 30 children in them these days, it is pretty much impossible! Set a number for your little one and work through their friends and classmates to see who they would like to invite.
As with anything the budget for a child’s party can be as much or as little as you want it to be, all you need to decide is how much you would like to be spending on it and go from there.
