3 Tips on getting your garden ready for the summer

The sun has returned and many of us are thinking ahead to the summer months coming our way.

For us, this weekend saw us back out in the garden with it’s first cut of the year and just a general tidy up ready for the warmer weather. We don’t have a very big garden, so it was not too difficult to do however if you have a larger garden or need some help just getting started, here are my 3 top tips on getting your garden ready for summer.

  1. Give your grass its first cut/hoover – Now for most people you are not likely to be hoovering your garden. However, like I have mentioned in the blog a few times we have artificial grass in the back garden so hoover this when the weather turns dry. Our front garden however is a very hilly grass, so this took two of us to cut this over the weekend. Once the first cut is out of the way it should be easier going forward.
  2. Start to plan ahead for the flower beds – Whether you be looking to have flowers or even a fruit and veg patch, now is the time to start planning. Things grow throughout the year at different times and if like me you are not very green fingered you may need to take a little extra time planning. You may find that you need to hire a gardener to help get you started but in the long run it will probably be money well spent.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help – Not everyone is cut out to make their garden look like it is ready for the Chelsea flower show, hands up I am one of those people. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, should you be looking to get someone in to do some gardening services.

Over the coming 18 months – 2 years we will be looking to get some garden quotes done as the jobs required are just too much for us to do on our own. It is going to be a mammoth task taking on the jobs we have lined up so I will be grateful for the extra help!
