Every parent debating whether or not to send their child to nursery has probably wondered if their youngster is ready. Making childcare arrangements can be stressful, but the truth is that there is no right age for kids to attend nursery. Every child is different and every family has different requirements. Some parents have work commitments and therefore have no choice but to send their child to nursery. Others just want their children to learn some important social skills before they start big school. Whatever your reason, it can be difficult to know what’s best for your child, so a prep school in Surrey have put together the following advice.
The majority of nurseries will accept babies from several months old, but some might require children to be over the age of two. If you would like to slowly introduce your child to the idea of the nursery you should join some local groups for parents and babies. This will help your child experience being around others their age and take part in different learning activities.
Make sure you make plenty of visits to different nurseries before you finally decide which one you’re going to send your child to. You need to find out whether the nursery is suited to your child’s needs and what a normal day looks like. Find out what sort of activities your child will likely be taking part in and what the meal times are like. You should write a list of questions before your visit so that you don’t leave anything out.
As with anything, sending your child to nursery might have some drawbacks. For instance, there have been many studies to suggest that nursery students are more likely to develop behaviour problems. However, without interaction with other children, your child might not learn how to share or take turns. You will need to weigh up the pros and cons and determine whether or not it’s right for you and your family.
