As the kids have gotten older, going away has become more and more expensive, not only in what they eat but the cost of travel and accommodation has increased too. That is why so many people are now considering or have already looked into owning a caravan. We have had discussions in the past about getting a caravan so we can get away with the kids and dogs last minute and explore the UK and beyond.
A caravan is a big investment for a family but with so many benefits that it can bring, these outweigh the initial investment. Don’t forget to ensure you have the right insurance in place and even consider a caravan trackers to ensure you have it protected.

I know the initial outlay for the caravan can be steep, but once this has been done, you have holidays for years whenever it suits you. Being able to pack up the caravan and set off on a mini adventure thought-out the year is such a great way to see the beautiful parts of the UK.
It also allows you to change plans at the last minute to suit your family’s needs, which when you have children and pets, can be quite often! For us with dogs, I find the options limited or expensive for us looking for a holiday, so it would save money for us in the long run.
It is a home away from home –
With your own caravan, you can make it a home away from home with your personal belongings. It is those little things that make you feel comfortable and relaxed.
If you have space to store your caravan at home, you can even spend a little time kitting it out in your own decor and style. Giving you a little mini extension to your home and your personality. It also means as it is your caravan that you can pack your creature comforts such as your favourite mugs, a kettle and tea bags!
Become more independent in travel –
When you have your own caravan, it opens up the option to just pack up and go whenever you like. There are some great sites that give you a snapshot of the campsites up and down the UK, allowing you to plan your trip last minute.
If you are fortunate to work in a job where you are able to take time off during term time, it is a great way to get to the beach last minute. Just being able to wake up at home one day and be by the beach with an ice cream in the afternoon just sounds amazing.
Great for families –
Now don’t get me wrong, you can not beat a beach holiday somewhere warm once in a while. However, I find the whole packing, flight and transfer with kids stressful at times but with a caravan, you get the chance to get the kids back to nature and beyond by being able to stay in places where there is no option for a hotel, it is back to basics with caravans and camping.
