Dear Kayleigh,
Today is the day you turn 9.
God when did you grow up so quick?! You were just a dinky little thing and then in a blink of an eye you’ve grown up into this little lady.
One that is full of confidence but still has those little niggling doubts when doing things, you are not sure of.
You shouldn’t though. Everything you do, you’ve been smashing it. You’ve got this little fire burning inside you that is making you more competitive than ever.
This year you’ve set your target on your pen licence and a few awards at school and you’re not going to stop until you get them this year. Each week you come out a little disappointed it hasn’t happened yet but then spend even more time on your homework to make it happen the next week. It did, just before we flew you got the first one you wanted!
Daddy will say you are very much like me. You get easily agitated if something isn’t going the way it should be when you are doing it, perfection is what you want. In your eyes anything else isn’t good enough.
Your growing into this little lady who is standing on her own 2 feet, a real little Miss Independent. Last Christmas you had a key role in the Christmas play, only days before dropping it on us that you were singing.
Singing a solo that was.
I won’t lie my stomach dropped, your first ever school play you cried. You hated people watching you and here you were about to sing a solo in front of 90+ adults. You did it though and you made me get emotional, you were amazing.
You’ve become a little geekette too, you love building in Minecraft with your brother among other games. You’ve not really shown any interest in computers until the last year and it’s become more apparent too as you’re learning about coding and the internet at school so know lots of things!
Learning is one of your favourite things to do, you absorb so much and want to share all about it. We’ve had conversations about how long it takes for food to digest to what the Anglo Saxons used for clothes. I’ve learnt lots this year too, from you!
This year you are very fortunate that we are away getting sun for your birthday, it is a little bit of paradise. Even though we are away from home today, it is still your day and always will be.
Happy birthday beautiful girl.
Lots of love
Mummy & Daddy
