Purchasing a brand-new automobile is an expensive undertaking, even if you get car finance online. Losing money, generally in the thousands of pounds, as soon as you drive a brand-new vehicle off the dealership forecourt is inevitable. If you are dead set on acquiring one, you should be prepared to wait for many months before you can do so because worldwide chip shortages and limited shipping capacity might cause wait periods of this length. But if you are set on getting a new vehicle, read on for some helpful advice that will get you behind the wheel for the least amount of money.
Are you very certain that you require a brand new automobile?
Investing in a brand-new vehicle is the antithesis of money-saving. Is it absolutely necessary for the automobile to be brand new straight off the assembly line?
In the first three years after purchase, a brand-new vehicle loses about half of its value on average. However, some vehicles lose value even more quickly and are only worth a quarter or even a fifth of what they were originally sold for. That is a significant portion to throw away on such an expensive acquisition.
Even a car that is just one or two years old or a car that was previously used as a demonstration model is often a far better deal than a brand-new vehicle.
Choose the optimal moment to purchase a brand-new car
After you have settled on a vehicle, the next step is to figure out how to obtain the greatest bargain possible on it. Buying at the optimal moment can help cut expenses in a number of ways.
The dealers have goals to achieve, and there are incentives up for grabs if they do. Since they are often calculated based on quarterly sales, the end of March, June, September, and December are all excellent times to make purchases. They need to sell automobiles, so they will be more likely to bargain and give appealing credit deals since they need to move inventory.
If you want some peace and quiet, you should aim to schedule your appointments throughout the week rather than on the weekends or right after payday at the beginning of the month. If you want to get the best deal possible, you should steer clear of new numberplate seasons and dealerships that are overrun with people who are interested in purchasing a vehicle but have not yet done so.
Consider the type of automobile you want, as well. Convertibles are the cars that drivers fantasise about purchasing in the summer, so the winter is an excellent time to find a good price on one.
Haggling
Haggling is not something that only happens in dingy backstreet bazaars; it is a classic talent of a dealer, and it is expected of you, too; therefore, negotiate aggressively and beat Arthur Daley at his own game. The first guideline is that you should NEVER pay the list price of the automobile. It would be foolish to give over the whole cost (unless you are purchasing the car online, in which case your possibilities to bargain are restricted!).
