For many people the last 18 months have been a struggle and very stressful, especially for all of those couples who have been planning their wedding and honeymoon. If you have been planning your honeymoon and where to go, then we have put together some of the top trends for 2021 and things that you need to consider. With all of the travel restrictions that have been in place during the majority of 2020, the idea of travelling abroad has either felt like a distant memory, or something that has seemed impossible. Finally now though with things easing a little, couples are able to now plan the holiday of their dreams abroad in the sun.
For anyone looking to plan their honeymoon, it can be a daunting task and can seem as though there are so many options out there that it may seem as though you won’t be able to ever find somewhere. The first thing you need to think about is whether you want to travel somewhere hot, somewhere cold, an adventure holiday or something more relaxing. You also need to think about whether or not you would like to travel abroad, or opt for something more local and stay in the UK.
Private Holiday Destinations
Throughout the past 18 months, people have gotten used to social distancing and keeping their distance from other people, so this might have an impact on the honeymoon destinations that people choose. For many people, they might want to keep to social distancing measures, so choosing a private villa, or private honeymoon destination would be an ideal choice. There are plenty of options that you can choose with villas that have their own private swimming pools. If you have a bigger budget then you may want to look at more exotic honeymoon locations such as a five-star spa or even your own private island.
UK Staycations
Another trend for 2021 is that many couples will now look to choose a honeymoon closer to home and choose a staycation rather than travelling abroad. There are so many beautiful places to choose from within the UK, so staying closer to home doesn’t mean that you need to compromise on luxury. There can also be plenty of benefits to choosing a honeymoon within the UK, including saving money on your budget as you won’t have to pay for international flights which can be expensive.
Depending on what you both like doing as a couple you may choose to go and stay in a luxury, five star spa location within the UK, or perhaps if camping and exploring is your idea of fun then you could hire a camper van and go and travel around the UK coastline together. If you both enjoy history and finding out about the historical aspects of a city, then there are plenty of really beautiful, and interesting places that you can visit.
Mini-moons
Because this past 18 months has been a stressful time for everyone, and with things still not being completely back to normal, many couples might be considering having a mini-moon now and then saving their money to have a bigger honeymoon in a year or so when things have settled down. This is a great way to have some time away together now to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate your marriage, but then also means you will have something to look forward to as well. You could also ask your friends and family who are attending your wedding to donate to your honeymoon fund. This is a great way to ensure that you can save a bit more money and means that your family and friends will be giving you money towards something that you both really want.
