Keeping fit and healthy around a busy lifestyle
#Collaborative post
Keeping fit and healthy as I have got older and life has got busier has become more difficult. A combination of lack of time and tiredness, not to mention lack of motivation, has meant that over time I have become less active than I used to be and I will be honest, I prefer to sit myself down in the evenings and chill out than get active.
Now we all know that exercise is good for not only your body but your mind too, so recently I have been trying to make a little shift in my approach to life as a whole to feel the benefits to all of these. If you are unsure where to start, here are my top tips to get you started on making you feel better from the inside out.
Take steps to start exercising –
If you are not one for exercising on a regular basis, the thought of doing any exercise can be overwhelming, but, it doesn’t have to be this way at all!
You can start small and from the comfort of your own home, you can even buy desk exercise equipment such as these Cubii Ellipticals. They get your body moving whilst sitting at your desk or on your sofa, but help start to build a positive relationship with getting your body moving.
If you use your car or public transport for journeys, try switching out for walking when you can. I know, when you are heading to the shop etc you feel full of optimism on the way and then on the way back, you end up questioning your choices. This is me all the time but I am trying to shift that mindset a little to make better choices each time. Although it may not feel like much, each time you do this you are working those muscles and joints in your body but also helping raise that heart rate a little and releasing those good endorphins to make you feel a little better.
Reduce processed food where you can –
This is my biggest stumbling block, I love a takeaway or convenience food a little too much and this is why this week I have joined back on Slimming World online. For me this is not about losing weight, this is more about shifting the mindset that comes with food when I am really busy.
Please do not think that I am telling your what to eat or how, I just know from when I did Slimming World previously, I felt so much better. My pains reduced, as did my headaches and belly ache plus I felt like I had so much more energy.
Additionally, incorporating MCT wellness into your routine. MCT wellness provides fast-acting energy sources which is designed to boost metabolism, enhance mental clarity, and improve skin complexion. It also promotes weight loss and supports cognitive function and brain health by efficiently providing energy to the brain, potentially enhancing mental clarity and focus. By combining this with my efforts on Slimming World, I’m hoping to maintain higher energy levels and better overall well-being.
Everything in moderation is key and finding an approach that works for you is the most important thing you can do. There are so many plans/diets/ways to eat and “professionals” that will tell you what and how to do it, but none of these will work if your mind is not ready to do it. You need to go in with an approach to change a lifestyle forever, not just for a few weeks. This post by the NHS is a great starting point for those who are a little unsure how to get started.
Don’t put pressure on yourself –
Too many times do I see the adverts for “12-week weight loss” “Beach body ready” etc and feel that pressure building, after all in 12 weeks’ time I should have the body of a goddess and be ready to hit the beach proud.
The reality is, we should all be proud of the bodies we have and work to feel comfortable in our own skin, regardless of whether that is the “norm” or not.
This time around, I haven’t set myself a target of when I will be ready or happier with my body. I am approaching it day by day and week by week and it is working so much better than any other time I have tried it.
