Good morning & happy weekend! Welcome back to our round up of the week in one picture.
For a change this week I actually took a few pictures and had a bit of a tough time picking one, to sum up, our week. I’ve decided to go with this one:
I picked this one for lots of reasons as it says so much about our week.
Firstly it means it was the last day of term on Friday and we now have 2 weeks off, hooray! To celebrate that and the end of the big pedal week our school did superhero day.
Now I’m not a parent who is going to make any fancy costume, I just lack the skills and abilities to do that. So, we ordered some in (last minute of course!).
Some parents feel bad for not making an all singing and dancing costume, but why? At the end of the day regardless of whether you made it or brought it, as long as your children love wearing it that is all that matters. There is so much guilt put on parents lately on how they should raise their children. Lot’s of people seem to have an opinion on what is right or wrong, but who are they to decide?
As a parent you have your children’s best interests at heart, yes, we sometimes get it wrong and things don’t always go to plan.
However, no one is ever right all the time.
Let your kids be kids, let them get messy, let them get dressed up in costumes that you brought/made/borrowed that they love. Let them know they are loved and that they have you to support and guide them along the way.
Also be kind to yourself, you might not be the “parent” people think you should be. It doesn’t matter, all that matters is you are the parent your children need and they grow up with your unwavering support and love, with a little guidance thrown in along the way.
Have a lovely Easter break if your school has broken up and don’t feel bad if you’re not living the life you see on social media, it is ok to have home movie days and lazy days around the park. It is also ok to do nothing on some days, just do what is right for you.
