The summer holidays are flying by and we are back with another weekly meal plan. This week we are trying out a few new dishes which I featured in a recent post on family meals. It has been great being off and being able to try out a few dishes and just get back into the habit of cooking.
Laziness has crept in during the busy weeks at work and we had not been cooking the best we could do, but that has changed lately. I am also pleased that everyone has been trying out the new meals. We are also working on a few new recipes for our family food blog. Granted these are most likely to be sweet treats, however, you can’t beat a good pudding fresh out of the oven.
For now, though, let’s get back to what we have planned for this week.
Our weekly meal plan – 09/08/21
Monday –
Hambread and chips – I featured this Hambread recipe in a roundup of family meals and I know it is going to be popular with our household. Can’t wait to give it a try!
Tuesday –
Sausage, mash, and beans – It seems like a long time since we have sausage, mash, and beans. It is nothing fancy however it is a dish that is so easy to make but a real comfort to eat when you make it.
Wednesday –
Pressure cooker butter chicken – Trying out a new dish in our pressure cooker, again this is one featured in the family meals round up and I look forward to trying it. I am hoping it is the perfect balance for the whole family, including Ethan who is not a big fan of spicy food.
Thursday –
Spaghetti bolognaise – I will bulk cook this recipe and be able to put some of this in the freezer for later in the month. This is a perfect dish to bulk cook for later in the month and you can bulk it out with vegetables.
Friday –
Pizza – One for the kids, they love pizza, and to be fair, so do I!
Saturday –
BBQ – I am going to try and find a few new recipes to try on the BBQ, I will let you know how these go down.
Sunday –
Roast chicken – Depending on the weather, we will either have this with the full roast trimmings or with salad.
I am looking forward to trying out a few new dishes this week, they both sound delicious and I think they are both likely to be a big hit. What I really need to do before we go back is list out all the recipes that have been popular with the family during the holidays. This means when we head back to school I will be able to easily pick and plan for dinner, knowing that there should be minimal battles at mealtimes.
As Ethan heads to high school this September, I’m sure that he is going to be hungry when he gets home in the evening. We are all going to have to adapt to what will be our new normal. I’m hoping that as they both start to mature a little more then their taste buds might change a little. They have improved over the years, it is just still quite limited on what they like.
