Our weekly meal plan – 25th July 2022

It is time for another meal plan and you would have thought that now we have broken up from work and school I would be a bit more organised in this post, but in fact, it was the total opposite. I have been rushing around so much the last few weeks that I completely forgot to get myself sorted. It doesn’t matter though, we will make it work with the bits and pieces we have in the house and that I have ordered in.

Once we get this first week out of the way, I am going to try and get myself organised for the rest of the summer holidays. Kayleigh had got the cooking bug from school, so no doubt we will be making some bits for her. Though, I think most of her choices are going to be sweet than savoury!

It is also the time to try out a few new recipes, I don’t really know where to start at the minute as I have not taken time out to have a look but I will get myself on it shortly. There are a few new dishes this week that I am looking forward to trying out.

I find it strange in the holidays cooking dinners, as we have no work to do we can start cooking dinner when we want and I find it a little easier to get in the kitchen as I have more energy. This always results in the food options being a little all over the place as you will see from this week’s menu!

Right, let’s get back to this week’s meal plan.

Our weekly meal plan – 26/07/22

Monday –

Roast chicken with all the trimmings – That is right, I am doing a weeknight roast! This is going to be with Yorkshire puddings and veggies too. One bonus to being off, it was too hot for the roast yesterday so it has been switched to today.

Tuesday –

Pasta with all the veggies – I have lots of vegetables such as aubergines, courgette, onions and tomatoes to use up so planning to make a veggie-packed sauce to have with our pasta.

Wednesday –

Gnocchi with tomato sauce – I have never eaten or made gnocchi so I am looking forward to giving this a go, I will let you know how it turns out.

Thursday –

Szechuan pork with noodles – This is a new Slimming World recipe so I am looking forward to trying this out and seeing how it turns out.

Friday –

Freezer food – Likely to be pies and chips or burgers!

Saturday –

Beef curry – I have some beef in the freezer to use, planning a slow-cooked Rogan Josh for dinner. I can pop it in the slow cooker and leave it to do its thing.

Sunday –

Toad in the hole – I can’t remember the last time I made this but hopefully it will go down well. I am sure they will demolish it all as they love Yorkshire puddings.

So, there is a bit of a combination of meals up this week and some will be a hit and others not so much but I am looking forward to trying out the new dishes. I am hoping that this week I will be able to get through some of the odds and sods we have in our cupboards and freezer to just make sure that we use up the bits that have been there a while. Then we can start planning ahead and only ordering the bits that we really need.

Do your meals change during the holidays or do you tend to stick to the same things?
