Our weekly meal plan – 04/10/21

We are back with our first meal plan for October and before we know it we are going to be discussing Christmas!

Meal planning has been a bit hit and miss recently and I am determined to get us back on track with our meal plans. I have purchased our first Hello Fresh delivery which is due to arrive this weekend ready for next week. I just want to see if it will stop us from reaching for takeaways which with 4 adult meals can cost a fortune. No one tells you kids start to cost a fortune on food when they get older! I will keep you updated on what we think of that once we’ve given them a try.

Our weekly meal plan - 4th October 2021

This week is just as busy as the previous weeks, to be honest, there is something happening every day and we are going to be juggling a lot. From meetings, training, hospital visits, office moves and catching up with friends, I am not going to know whether I am coming or going this week! With this in mind, I have gone for one of the easiest meal plans going, although I am kicking it off with a quick roast which we didn’t have yesterday in the end.

Here is our meal plan for the week.

Our weekly meal plan – 04/10/21

Monday –

Roast chicken and all the trimmings – I am not one for cooking a roast on a weeknight, however, I don’t want to waste the food we have in. Though I am cheating and using pre-made Yorkshire puddings for the first time in a very long time.

Tuesday –

Spaghetti bolognaise – It is an easy dinner tonight, with a bit of bulk cooking thrown in for good measure. This is a great way to prepare for another dinner in advance as we freeze up a meal portion for another meal.

Wednesday –

Chicken curry – I will be cheating today with our curry and using a jar mix for our sauce. I don’t have time to be rushing around making a curry tonight so plan to give myself a little break with the dinner tonight.

Thursday –

Sausage, mash and beans – So easy and quick to cook. The kids will more likely have chips with theirs but that is not too much extra effort.

Friday –

Takeaway – We are catching up with friends tonight for the first time in a long time so it is going to be a takeaway, drinks and snacks all around!

Saturday –

Chicken kievs and chips – Super easy and simple. I am out catching up with old work colleagues for lunch today so not sure how much I will fancy eating by dinner time.

Sunday –

Beef and mushroom pie – One of our Hello Fresh meals, I am not sure how this will go down with the kids but we can try.

I know next week will be much easier as 3 of the 7 meals are already picked and paid for, it is one less thing for me to have to think about. I am intrigued to see how it stacks up for us using the delivery service for meals compared to cost. If it works out well, I would consider having a box delivered more often and saving myself that little extra work in the long run. Have you used a subscription meal service such as Hello Fresh? I’d love to hear how you and your family got on with it. Like I said we have not tried it yet, however, if like me you are tempted, you can get £46 off using this link.
