This week’s Gallery theme at the great Sticky Fingers is 11/11/11. Now everyone knows how special this day is to remember the heroes lost past and present and to think of those still doing their job today.
It’s the first time Kayleigh has really been old enough to understand poppies and the 2 minutes silence. So on that Friday we took a walk to the memorial in the town centre.
She asked what the flowers are for, so i just told her they are special flowers for the hero’s that didn’t make it home. She’s too young to really understand in too much detail.
We then went and brought our own poppies and wore them with pride on that day.
Don’t forget to head over to Sticky Fingers to see what others did on 11/11/11.
Its important to pass the message of the meaning behind Remembrance Day and explaining it to our children is crucial. Kayleigh looks beautiful wearing her poppy x
That sounds like a really nice way to pass on the message behind Remembrance Day and well done Kayleigh for staying silent for 2 minutes – lovely picture of her x
Great pictures. She looks so thoughtful
I think the 1st picture is so poignant – a solitary man possibly remembering his friends?
