#TheOrdinaryMoments – Motherhood – 22/03/16

Motherhood is one of life’s greatest pleasures, however to me it is also one of life’s steepest learning curves.

Let’s face it, there is no manual, there is no hard and fast rule and EVERYONE has an opinion on what you are doing, be it right or wrong. You have to think on your feet with hardly any sleep and no amount of helpful advice or books can prepare you for it.

So what do you do?

You adapt, you be kind to yourself when it gets tough and everyday you tell yourself that you are doing an amazing job!

I won’t claim to know it all.

I don’t feed my two the best homemade meals all the time (yes hands up I give them cereal sometimes in the evening for a meal if that’s what they ask for).

We do have days where we call them “Pyjama days” which means, “I can’t be bothered to do anything today really kind of day.”

However I will admit I am doing ok.

Kayleigh and Ethan are both thriving at school, with them just having parents evening last week they are both where they should be or above where they should be. However more importantly than that, they are both amazing little things with perfect manners and tender sides to them that make sure they look after others when they are hurt or down or just in need of a friend.

I’ll say it out loud…. They are pretty awesome and I am incredibly proud they are ours!

So next time you are having a bit of a wobble after a stressful day or are surviving on copious amounts of caffeine to keep going just remember one thing.

Motherhood is such a special journey to be on and you are doing an amazing job at it! So chin up and be proud of being the best mum you can be.
