Good morning & welcome to our Wise Words Wednesday where we have the lovely Lauren taking time out to answer our questions.
Lauren’s blog has a lovely mix of her family life, adventures and review. With so much to read you need to make sure you add it to your favourite list!
For now, though I am going to hand you over to Lauren:
Tell us a little bit about you & your blog:
I’m Lauren and I’ve been writing ‘Scrapbook Blog’ since 2011, although until early last year it was called Belle du Brighton. I felt like I needed a bit of a change so rebranded and am really happy I did! I write about all sorts of things, family life, travel, reviews and opinions too.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I was reading lots of fashion and beauty blogs and had a lot of evenings free as my then fiancé worked mostly night shifts. It was an outlet for my thoughts and opinions and I’d had more private ‘blogs’ in the form of Livejournal in the past, so I guess it was the next step!
What has been your highlight of blogging?
Being able to give my kids experiences that they’d not have had without me being a blogger. Things like movie premiers, holidays and fun days out. I’ve had some great experiences too of course but it’s just so amazing to see their faces light up!
Is there anything you have learnt about blogging which you wish you knew when you started out?
Big pictures are best! When I first started I thought people might think I was big headed or thought I was a wonderful photographer if I used full width photos, so I used tiny ones right in the centre of the post!
I also wish someone had told me how addictive it would be!
Bloggers sometimes get a lot of stick however many work really hard and are reaping the rewards, what has been the most rewarding part of blogging for you?
Being able to give myself the skills to leave my previous hotel management hob and start up as a freelance social media manager. I’ve been doing it for over two years now and love the freedom it gives me with two small kids.
What would be your 1 tip you would give all new bloggers starting out?
Don’t worry about numbers, they’ll come when people start to follow what you share naturally. Also, don’t expect to start making money or being sent things from the start.
Who do you find inspiring to read/watch in the blogging world?
There are so many people that I love to read that I wouldn’t know where to start! I feel like I know some bloggers better than my friends almost as I’ve been following them for so long!
Lastly – do you have any big plans/dreams for your blog in the next 12 months?
Over the next year I want to carry on sharing our family story, making more vlogs of our trips and holidays and I’d love to keep having the luxury of being picky about the brands I work with so that they really fit with my family.
