Wise Words Wednesday with Michelle

Happy Wednesday everyone and welcome back to our Wise Words Wednesday feature. Today I am handing over the site to Michelle from Time and Pence.

Michelle is an inspiration on following your dreams when it comes to becoming self employed and working for yourself. Have a read on how she has found the blogging world and all that comes with it.

Tell us a little bit about you & your blog:

I’m Michelle, a work from home mum.  My blog is www.timeandpence.com.  I live with my hubby and cute, sometimes cheeky 7 year old son.  I always wanted to be a stay at home mum, so I gave up my career 15 years ago (way before starting a family) to become self- employed and have never looked back.

Family life is what I love most and we spend lots of time in the great outdoors and having fun together.  Whilst working for myself I have learnt lots of different ways to make and save money so I share all this information with my readers.

What inspired you to start blogging?

One day I was looking for new ways to make money on the internet (which I am always doing).  I came across a few blogs and started to read that you could make money from blogging.  I had no idea that this was possible but thought that maybe I could set something up to help people save and make money, whilst helping myself to make a few extra pounds along the way.

What has been your highlight of blogging?

The main  highlight for me has definitely been the amount of blogging friends I’ve made.  Everyone has been so helpful and there is a real community which you don’t realise exists until you get into blogging.

If you are ever stuck with anything somebody is always willing to share their experience and give you a helping hand which is just so lovely.  It’s now nice to be at the stage where I can offer my little bit of experience and advice to people too.

Another little highlight was making my first few pounds from my blog!

Is there anything you have learnt about blogging which you wish you knew when you started out?

I have learnt that it takes a lot of time and hard work to build a blog but with patience and perseverance, the rewards are there.  If you write about something you are interested in then the time you spend on it is enjoyable anyway!

Bloggers sometimes get a lot of stick however many work really hard and are reaping the rewards, what has been the most rewarding part of blogging for you?

Without a doubt it’s been helping other people.  There are so many people and new mum’s that genuinely want to work from home and just do not know where to start.

A few people have told me how much money I have helped them to make and it’s been life changing for them. That’s priceless.  The fact that I’ve started to make a little bit of money myself is a bonus.

What would be your 1 tip you would give all new bloggers starting out?

Just get going, don’t wait.  I wrote a few posts for my blog then published it live.  I’ve made lots of changes since but that’s the beauty of it.  You learn as you go along.

Who do you find inspiring to read/watch in the blogging world?

Emmadrew.info and from penniestopounds.com both inspire me.  They are both at different places on their blogging journey so I love reading their income reports and watching where they are going.

Lastly – do you have any big plans/dreams for your blog in the next 12 months?

I am working really hard to build my traffic at the moment, both on my blog and on social media, so please do come over and say hi.  I’m sure you’ll find plenty of information that’s useful to you and if you think there is anything missing, or something you would like me to write about then do let me know.  You can find me here.

I’ve also just dipped my toes into Instagram this week, so I plan to grow that too and am excited to see where it take me!
