With Mother’s Day just round the corner I’m sure you’ve seen the stores packed with goodies for your mum but what do you do if you haven’t got a fortune to spend and want to make it a little special?
You bake of course!
Baking mad have a whole host of mothers day recipes for you to choose from and all of them are simple enough for even a novice baker to make mum a treat.
I was recently sent a little package of goodies to make my perfect Mother’s Day baking, my set included a cake stand, rice paper butterflies, tea towels and a new piping bag. So with my ingredients in the cupboard all I needed to do was select which one I wanted to bake!
In the end I decided to go with the mothers day cupcakes as I couldn’t wait to use the new piping bag and cake stand. However they do have some lovely looking fudge and cookies on there too!
Following the recipe on the site, I set to work making the cupcakes. The recipe itself was very easy to follow and I had them in the oven within 15 minutes and just had to wait whilst they baked.
They smelt delicious whilst they baked!
Once out of the oven and cooled I set to icing. I did my typical swirl and then decided to just go for it and get creative with the pink and green icing. In the end these turned out even better than the orange and I found myself really enjoying icing, maybe its a calling for me?!
Topped with a few butterflies the cakes took pride of place on the stand. What do you think?
See not all Mother’s Day gifts have to be expensive, just need to get a little creative instead. Why not treat your mum to something a bit more personal next Sunday.
I received my gift pack to create these cakes however all ingredients and baking were my own!
