It is time for this week’s meal plan, slightly later than usual but better than never I suppose.
The half-term break is over and we are back into work/school balance. All whilst trying to finish the building work in the house and just survive to the summer really. I don’t know about anyone else but this year is flying by and every time I say we are going to get ahead of ourselves or even take a break, something else always happens.
Last week I brought a pack from JD Seasoning to try out alongside our regular meals as sometimes I just want to be able to cook a meal without having to think about it too much and whilst I am on Slimming World, most pre-made sauces/spice mix is not an option due to the syns in them. I will let you know how we get on with this next week.
Our meal plan last week went ok, no chance of a BBQ here as the weather was not the best for half term, however, we did ok to eat what we had in the house mostly. I am trying really hard to keep the cost of our shopping down now with rising costs, so plan to use up more of what we have in the freezer before we order anything else in!
Let’s get back to this week’s meal plan and see what we have cooking this week.
Our weekly meal plan – 06/06/22
Monday –
Chicken kiev’s and chips- Not the best meal for Slimming World but after our first day back, I just want something simple and quick to enjoy.
Tuesday –
Spicy meatballs and pasta – This is one of the first recipes from our seasoning box so looking forward to trying it out.
Wednesday –
Risotto – I might make a mushroom and asparagus risotto, since I found the quick way to make it, I’ve not looked back!
Thursday –
Fish, new potatoes and vegetables – super simple to make but sometimes they can be the best dinners going.
Friday –
Medium chicken curry – I love a good curry and usually make it from scratch but this one is also out of the box and looking forward to trying it out and seeing what it is like.,
Saturday –
Takeaway – It is Ethan’s birthday sleepover, so it will be a takeaway tonight without a doubt!
Sunday –
Sausage casserole – Another from the JD Seasoning box, I’m hoping it is nice as sometimes I don’t fancy making a roast every week.
My box arrived a little late for the meal plan this week as our shopping arrives on a Saturday, so we are just trying out some of the dishes which we have things in for. I am looking forward to next week and being able to really try out some of the dishes. I think we have just fallen into a bit of a rut when it comes to our meal planning and I am hoping this just opens up some options as to what meals we will all eat as a family and give us a bit of a variety.
With everything going up, I am also trying to use a little less meat in our meals so will be looking at more dishes like the risotto or pasta dishes to fill out our meal planning, just to keep costs as low as possible as they start to rise.
