Wise Words Wednesday with Jo

Good morning and welcome back to our latest blogger interview. Today we have Jo from Cup Of Toast taking time out to answer our blogger questions.

Jo’s blog is packed full of great posts on her family and their adventures so make sure you pop over and take a look.

For now though I will hand over to Jo:

Tell us a little bit about you & your blog:

Hi, I’m Jo and I write Cup of Toast which is a family and lifestyle blog. It turns a year old shortly after Easter and I am loving every moment!

What inspired you to start blogging?

I paused my career to raise my three young sons. The day to day can be pretty bonkers and I decided that it was time to carve some ‘me’ back into my life and routine. I have loved writing for as long as I can remember so it seemed like the perfect fit.

What has been your highlight of blogging?

There have been so many! Mostly though, the personal connections that I have made, both with other bloggers and with clients. The blogging world is a hugely sociable one which I love.

Is there anything you have learnt about blogging which you wish you knew when you started out?

The time intensity has surprised me. It’s not a negative at all but behind every post is hours of hard work and dedication. Taking photographs, editing, making the style of each post work on the screen, finding the perfect fit of words for the subject matter. There’s a lot of creativity which gets poured into it.

Bloggers sometimes get a lot of stick however many work really hard and are reaping the rewards, what has been the most rewarding part of blogging for you?

Much like my highlights, I think that it is the sociable part of blogging that is the most rewarding. Making genuine connections through social media and reading the comments on my posts is so special to me.

What would be your 1 tip you would give all new bloggers starting out?

Every blog is unique, because every blogger is unique. I would urge anyone new to this to remember that and to be themselves! If it fits with you personally, it will fit with your blog.

Who do you find inspiring to read/watch in the blogging world?

I love such a range of blogs, I try to read them as often as time allows. I especially love hopping on to the linkies, even if I’m not taking part, just to check out new blogs. Zoe at The Tale of Mummyhood is great and such a lovely supportive person. Matthew over Me and Mini Mees is super and so honest. Gosh, there are so many incredible writers that I could mention here!

Lastly – do you have any big plans/dreams for your blog in the next 12 months?

To keep writing, to keep enjoying, and to keep connecting. In short, more of the same. I think that throughout the past ten months I have learnt so much about what works for me and for my blog and my readers and I want to build on that knowledge and produce more great content that works for this little space of mine.
